Budapest is a beautiful city that offers its visitors many wonderful historical sites to visit.
Budapest is a city full of history, culture and beautiful architecture. It has a lot to offer tourists looking for an immersive experience. The Hungarian capital is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Central Europe and for good reason. Budapest can offer its visitors so many sites to explore, whether they are interested in the country's rich history, its hidden gems or simply looking for a cultural experience during their stay.
Did you know that Budapest is actually divided into 3 cities? "Obuda" which is the old Buda, "Buda", the upper part of today's Budapest, on the left bank of the Danube, and "Pest", the lower city on the right bank of the river.
Each and every one of these cities including modern Budapest has a lot to offer tourists, but this time we are going to focus on Buda, which as you can see has so much to offer that it is best to have a professional guide on one of the Free Tours of Buda that we offer here at GuruWalk.
Buda is one of the two main parts of Budapest. It is located on the western bank of the Danube River (Dune).
It has always been an important cultural and educational centre as well as a tourist attraction. Buda has many important sites such as the Parliament, the Fisherman's Bastion and the Matthias Church. Visitors come to Buda because they can find a more authentic experience here than in Pest (Budapest).
The Buda Parliament was a building constructed by the Ottoman Empire to celebrate its victory over the city. Construction of the building began in 1541 and was completed in 1556.
The Buda Fishermen's Bastion is a monument to the fishing nobility of Budapest. The tower was built in 1895 as part of the fortifications on the western side of Castle Hill.
Its status as a tourist attraction is due to its proximity to other sites of interest such as the Royal Palace, Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion Square.
The Matthias Church of Buda, also known as the Matthias Church of Budapest is a Romanesque church located in Buda. It was originally built in 1015 and is one of the most visited attractions in the city.
This church was built by King Stephen I and has been part of Hungary's history for over a thousand years. The site has been a religious and military centre for centuries with many important events taking place on its grounds.
