My name is George Qako, I am 60 years old. I love to show everyone my wonderful house. A tipical house of Berat, three centuries old with paitings from 1869s.
It was very nice that he showed us his phantastic old house. Afterwards we had a nice meeting with glico and raki and felt at home. On the other hand he does not speak a word of English - it should not be described as "english tour". With a prepared presentation in many languages and with online translation by mobile phone it worked, nevertheless, go get a good contact with the guide and his wife. The tour description with several locations in Berat is misleading, since we visited only one house.
I loved this tour so much..it was so unexpected! Xhorh and his wife Antiginou were fantastic hosts..very upbeat..fun and enthusiastic and although they could not speak any English we did everything through google translate and it worked perfectly! The house is an absolute hidden gem..and it was such a lovely experience to be in the home of Albanians!
George is a legend, highly recommend seeing his house! He only speaks Albanian (and maybe Italian?) so everything was done through a translator and a premade presentation. Him and his wife were so lovely, and seemed genuinely interested in meeting people visiting his town. I learned some cool things about Berat history and had delicious Raki, be sure to ask about his music!
Gjergj was an amazing host. He invited us to visit his ottoman house full of antiques. Later we spent a couple of hours sitting in the living room drinking rakia. He couldn't speak any language apart from Albanian but we comunicated with google translate and it was super fun.
This was the most relaxed tour of my life and George and his wife were absolutely amazing and hospitable. I felt at home. It was a great experience. Hopefully we will see each other again. Faleminderit për gjithçka 🫶🏼
