This tour takes you to visit La Antigua Guatemala, this colonial jewel was the capital city of the Spanish kingdom which at the time extended from Chiapas Mexico to Costa Rica. The city was built at the foot of the majestic Agua Volcano and was abandoned after massive earthquakes in 1776. Years later the city was inhabited again and today you can still enjoy the colonial charm of a protected city frozen in time, with vestiges of the earthquakes that nearly destroyed it and the innovation that has made many of these ruins into some of the most amazing hotels, restaurants and parks in the world. Your guide will provide you with information about the country, its people, history and customs in Antigua.

Antigua is one of the Americas’ most enchanting colonial cities. In its day this was one of the great cities of the Spanish empire, serving as the administrative center for all Central America and Mexican Chiapas.
Along the entire south side of the Parque Central runs the elegant two-storey colonnaded facade of the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales. A structure was built here in 1558, but as usual the first version was destroyed by earthquakes.
One of Antigua´s most emblematic structures, the Santa Catalina Arch is all that remains of the original convent founded here in 1609.
