Hello, I am a lover of music, a former student of literature, and a seven year resident of the amazing city that is Berlin. I'm discovering more and more about my adoptive home town and I love to share what I have learnt. I know the history and the people and I like to have a fun experience when seeing the city with others.
Take a guided walk around the peaceful and beautiful walks of Southwest Berlin and into the picture-postcard neighbourhoods that only the locals know!
Starting near Onkel Tom’s Hütte in the leafy southwest corner of Berlin walk the lakes of Krumme Lanke, Schlachtentsee and Waldsee. The southern lakes of the Grunewald lake chain.
See the private hunting ground of the Electors of Brandenburg in Prussia in the 16th century.
The adjacent neighbourhood is beautiful cottages built exclusively for members of the Nazi SS.
The beautiful Architecture of the streets named after South American cities and German poets.
Hear the history from glacial to modern day, the Slavic and german poets who were inspired by the lakes in the Prussian period and we couldn't visit without talking about the giant fish that terrorized the swimmers or the strange murder mystery of Ulrich Schmücker.
So come and visit a place well known to locals but easy to miss for tourists who spend all their time in the usual places. And maybe find a moment of tranquility too!
Distance - 4,8km - Begin at U3 Station Onkel Tom‘s Hütte - End at U3 Krumme Lanke.
Please note - we start and finish in areas close to access to a WC. We can finish at either a transport link or Biergarten / restaurant depending on the wishes of the group.
Additional note - the journey to this region of berlin (depending on your starting point but assuming most people stay in the centre is roughly 35 to 45 mins and if you are in the north East it could be an hour. It is definitely worth it! But please be aware of the travel time when you plan your itinerary so I can avoid cancellations at the last minute. Thank you.
I’ll be standing by the red sign post outside the station usually with a green backpack
