Hi ! I am Nadir . I can describe myself as a very friendly, easy going, fun, tenacious, helpful guy :) I am a licensed spanish tour guide. I am looking forward to meeting new people on my tour :)
Getting to know Balat on a walking tour exclusively in Spanish takes us to discover much more than the most bohemian corner of Istanbul. Fener-Balat is the place where History transports us to the end of the 15th century, when two historical events that take place at both ends of the Mediterranean Sea give rise to the most colorful and vibrant neighborhood in the city.
We will visit spectacular Orthodox Christian temples such as the Church of Saint Stephen and the Ecumenical Cathedral of Saint George. We will have the opportunity to take photographs next to the imposing Fener Orthodox School and the instagrammable houses of Colores. We will visit the old Palace of Dimitri Cantemir and the famous Colored Stairs. We will see the Ahrida Synagogue and delight in the cafes, vintage shops and antique shops that have given new life to its historic streets.
A melting pot of peoples and religions, the steep streets of Balat keep secrets and stories that we invite you to learn from us.
OBSERVATIONS:
~Istanbulkart is required for public transportation~
~appropriate footwear is required for the neighborhood's steep cobblestone streets~
Appropriate clothing is required to enter Christian temples, especially in hot weather. Specifically, legs, arms and shoulders that are not very exposed~ATTENTION MEN: the Orthodox Patriarchate requires long pants for men. Sarongs or shorts are not accepted.
The payment expected by the guide is €10 per person, however, the voluntary nature of the payment is remembered due to its nature as a free tour.
~for groups of more than 6 people (adults) there are particular conditions. Consult with the supplier~
I will be next to the Galata Bridge, next to the underpass that is next to the boats where they make the mackerel sandwiches.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
