As a seasoned walking tour host with a passion for discovering new cities and connecting with individuals from diverse backgrounds, I bring a unique perspective to each of my tours. I have enjoyed working with embassies and institutes in curating custom tours on request. Originally hailing from South India, I have spent 3 years calling Frankfurt my home, while immersing myself in the local culture and exploring the surrounding areas. My tours are shaped around the things that excite me the most about these cities. I have travelled to more that 35 cities in and around Germany where I have had the pleasure of interacting with fellow walking tour hosts, exchanging ideas and learning from their experiences. As for me, I am an artist and urban researcher constantly seeking out new and innovative ways to explore the public realm and share its beauty with others. Since 2017, I have also curated my own heritage walks and inclusive art trails, bringing a personalized touch to each tour and ensuring that every guest feels engaged and inspired. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor, I am excited to share my love of culture, history, and art with you on your next walking tour adventure.
Our walking tour will explore the distinctive features of Jugendstil architecture, including the artists' Art Noveau houses and the Russian Chapel. We will also explore the Jugendstil art and architectural style that is seen in the houses where artists lived and worked during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. (Bonus: Take back with you an exclusive art postcard as a souvenir ✨) Please reach out for other dates or group bookings. I am happy to accommodate :)
Welcome to Mathildenhohe, Darmstadt - a place where art and architecture come together to create a stunning expression of Jugendstil style. This area is home to the Mathildenhohe Artists' Colony, a group of artists who worked together to create a community centered around art, beauty, and creativity. 👩🏽🎨
Our walking tour will take you through the streets of this remarkable neighborhood, where you'll discover the distinctive features of Jugendstil architecture. The buildings here are characterized by their ornate decorations, curved lines, and intricate designs. As we walk, we'll point out some of the most notable examples of this style, including the Wedding Tower and the Ernst Ludwig House. 👰🏼♂️🤵🏼♀️ ⛪️
As we continue our tour, we'll also explore the Mathildenhohe artists' colony. This was a group of artists who lived and worked in this area during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We'll see some of the houses they built, including those designed by Joseph Maria Olbrich and Peter Behrens. We'll also discuss the impact that these artists had on the art world, and how their work helped to shape the Jugendstil movement. 🏘 🖼 🌿
Throughout the tour, we'll take time to appreciate the small details that make this area so special. From the delicate stucco work on the facades of the buildings to the whimsical sculptures that adorn the streets, there's always something new to discover here. We'll also take a moment to reflect on the history of this neighborhood, and how it has evolved.
Some things along our route
Please remember to wear comfortable shoes for the tour, we will begin the tour near the Darmstadt Ostbahnhof and conclude it at the Vortex Garden.
Note: The entrance to the Hochzeitturm or Wedding Tower has a separate fee. Due to a large number of weddings, visitors may not be allowed to visit the tower on certain high-volume days.
The closest large city to Darmstadt is Frankfurt, which by itself is quite different from other German towns.

I will be waiting for you at the entrance of the Hochzeitturm. I recommend walking up to the tower from Ostbahnhof station on the Mathildenhöhe side.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
