Licensed Tourist Guide in Croatia. I am a passionate traveller who loves meeting people from all around the world. Except in Split where I grew up, I lived in other cities in Croatia and in Spain. I've studied French and Italian language and literature, and my curiosity was leading me always towards history, reading about other cultures, and traveling, so now, I really enjoy the mix I can offer as a guide; speaking in your language and telling you a history of my hometown. I am also a Tour Leader to Croatian biggest National Park - Plitvice Lakes. As a local, I enjoy soaking up the sun and drinking coffee for hours; "fjaka" is what we call it :). You won’t regret booking a tour with me, I guarantee you an exciting journey - stories about Greek Gods, Egyptian sphinxes, Temples, Roman Conspiracies, and much more! It's a beautiful and 1700 year old story that is worth your time. 😊 🚩 SMALL GROUPS 🚩 GREAT INTRODUCTION to your stay in Croatia 🚩 TIPS & RECOMMENDATIONS after the tour
Together we will discover why Split is a hidden gem of the Mediterranean, from Diocletian’s times to nowadays – DISCOVER why everybody talks about Croatia!
Our journey will start in 295 A.D., as you see you are visiting a 1700-year-old city, and wondering how it all happen. How the palace became the second-largest city in Croatia? And how is life in Croatia today?
This free tour follows the footsteps of Diocletian, a local boy who left a huge impact on the Roman Empire. His palace, today a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holds historical sights, secrets, and stories that will come to life on this tour.
This tour covers the most important Split’s historical events like:
We will see different areas of the complex, such as the cellars and monumental Peristyle courtyard. Look at the emperor's private observatory and see the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, originally built as Diocletian's Mausoleum. Discover the site of the Temple of Jupiter and Baptistery, and the original Bronze Gate, Silver Gate, Golden Gate, and Iron Gate that provided access to the city. Discover a refuge for the noblewomen of Split at the Benedictine Monastery of St. Arnir, admire the original 15th-century Town Hall, and marvel at the Baroque monuments of Fruit Square (Voćni trg).
Address is next to the ● Southern/Brass Gate of Diocletian's Palace ● (entrance to the cellars). I will be in front of the "L'amore per il gelato" (written on beige awning) ice cream shop. In front is usually parked white police van, as the 2nd picture on my profile shows it. Location is at Riva promenade, seaside.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
