Hi. My name is Rubin Isaacs, born and raised in Cape Town all my life. I am an authentic qualified registered Culture tourguide in my city. I have a passion to travel and has been traveling to different countries over the last 20 years. Having traveled to many countries, I can honestly agree that Cape Town is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the world. I always get excited when I do walking tours in my city, sharing her history and culture with visiting tourists.
Welcome to Cape Town!
Internationally recognized and accordingly awarded as one of the world's top Tourist Destination. The city is rich in culture, diversity and breathtaking beauty.
Cape Town has the awesome Table Mountain acknowledged as one of the seven natural wonders of the world and 39 beaches of which ten has been awarded the international Blue Flag status.
My tour starts at Green Market Square, a place with so much history that will give my visitors an insight of the early colonial development of South Africa.
My tour leads you on to the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest existing colonial structure in South Africa where the first Settlers arrived, then the majestically structured Edwardian styled building of our City Hall under the rulership of British Monarchy of the earlier nineteenth century. And much more.
When next you plan to visit Cape Town, South Africa, I am more than happy to show you my city with all her beauty and history.
You'll get to know about the beautiful history of Cape Town from Colonialism to Democracy, from Apartheid to freedom and also getting to taste the unique tastes of our diverse cuisines.
I will be at the entrance to the Mesopotamia Kurdish Restaurant in Burg Street Cape Town.
Green Market Square founded in 1760 was the place where local farmers would sell their produce to passing ships, also where the enslaved would be auctioned. The first municipal administrative building, namely the Old Town House built in 1755 is located. Also the place where one of the biggest anti-apartheid protests were held. The beautiful historic Gothic styled Methodist Church is located. Entrance is free.
Once a busy street, St George’s Mall is now a pedestrian walk through in the city centre. For tourists it is a wonderful place to shop, with informal traders selling evering thing from African art, and curio shops and coffee shops. Also an original segment of the Berlin Wall which tells a similar story of South Africa from oppression to freedom.Entrance is free.
The Castle of Good Hope is a Pentagonal styled Fort, built by the Dutch Settlers who arrived in the Cape in 1652. The Castle is known to be the oldest surviving building in South Africa. It's been the centre of civilian, political and military life at the Cape since 1679 when the Castle was completed. This historical building now houses the Castle Military Museum and also the William Fehr Art collection. There is a fee if any person wishes to visit the Museum and art collection.
District Six is one of CapeTown's well known communities. During the apartheid regime of South Africa when laws was pass to segregate and categorize the people of South Africa in different race classes, District six was one the communities in our history where the entire community was forcibly removed and houses flattened to the ground and people were forced to relocate.
The Slave Lodge is the 2nd oldest building in Capetown. This was where the enslaved of the Cape Colony was held during colonial times. The slogan of the museum tells a very complex story: From Human wrongs to Himan rights. The enslaved of South Africa played a very pivotal and important part in shaping society in our country.
