Here William! How are you? They ask me to write a short biography about myself, but the truth is, I don't know what to say in these cases. If I opt for the more academic version, I would have to say that I am a historian, writer and Official Guide of the Junta de Andalucía. But if I go for the more personal side, it would suffice to say that I am nice, with a good sense of humor, and capable of arousing interest in the smallest thing. Which one do you stay with? hehehe Now being serious, I'm glad you decided to come and visit Baeza, my hometown. The heritage it has is such that everyone is stunned when they walk through its streets, and behind a stately building, made of sandstone blocks, there is another one, and another, and another. Come and walk through its streets, be captivated by the beauty of its stone alleys, its palaces, its churches. Here I wait for you with a smile on my face and open arms. I am looking forward to meeting you, and that you leave with the best of impressions. Maybe I'll get it... :)
Baeza , the so-called Royal Nest of Gavilanes .
We will begin the tour at the City Hall , formerly the Corregidor Palace, and the Municipal Jail . From there, and cornering the house where Antonio Machado lived, we will go to the Paseo , one of the largest arcaded squares in Spain . !Wait! Porticos in Andalusia? Indeed. Come to the tour and I'll tell you why :)
The next stop will be the beautiful Plaza de los Leones , with the Municipal Butcher Shops, the Casa del Pópulo, the fountain of the Lions, and the Puerta de la Azacaya and the Arco de Villalar, a reminder of our community past.
Along Conde Romanones Street , where we will see the Chapel of Cristo del Cambrón , we will head to the Old University , and there we will be able to see the Antonio Machado Classroom , the Auditorium and the Cloister.
Next, we will go to the Church of Santa Cruz , the only completely late Romanesque church in Andalusia, and in front of it, the Jabalquinto Palace , a late Gothic or Elizabethan jewel. A little higher up, the Plaza de Santa María awaits us, where we will see its imposing cathedral, that of the Nativity of the Virgin , built by our famous Andrés de Vandelvira . The Fountain of Santa María, the Giribaile Palace, and the Seminary of San Felipe Neri .
A return to the alleys of the cathedral, with its doors and the Sepulchral Lauda of San Pedro Pascual, will be the final culmination of this tour.
Come and discover this universal Baeza with the help of one of its children, a historian and passionate about his land!
I'm wearing a gray sweatshirt (in summer a gray or white t-shirt), a gray cap, dark pants, an official guide accreditation and a smile on my face! :)
