Official Tourism Guide. I love meeting and interacting with people from other cultures and learning about their lifestyle. That was what led me to train as a tourist guide. Furthermore, I have lived in different countries throughout my life to learn new languages. Today, I am in Murcia, and it may be interesting to learn about the way we live and the history and monuments of the city where I live.
Welcome to Lorca, a step in time!
On this tour we are going to learn about the history of Lorca and its transformation through its most emblematic buildings. We will discover how Lorca has witnessed different civilizations throughout history and they have left their mark to this day.
We will start this tour at the Convent of La Merced, where I will explain what the mission of this emblematic monument was. In addition, we will answer how people lived in Lorca in the late Middle Ages and what the main problems were for the citizens of Lorca at that time.
We will continue our journey to the Plaza de España. Where we will find a monumental complex formed by the religious power, the civil power, and the judicial power. We will stop in time to learn how the heart of the city of Lorca was built.
Our next stop will be at the Glorieta de S.Vicente, where we will observe a 3x1. The milestone column, above it the saint S. Vicente Ferrer and the ancestral house of the Marín Ponce de León.
We will visit one of the most emblematic palaces in the region of Murcia, it was one of the buildings that introduced the baroque style to eastern Spain, we are talking about the palatial house of the Guevara.
We will end this tour with a visit to the palatial house known as ``Huerto Ruano''. We can see how a wealthy merchant introduced the eclectic style until then unknown in Lorca in the second half of the 19th century.
