Stone town (Old Town) also known as Mji Mkongwe in a Swahili language is the old part of Zanzibar City, the main and capital city of Zanzibar. That contains a huge history since the original Local people of Zanzibar, Persians, Portuguese then the Sultanate of Oman. The newer portion of the city is known as Ng'ambo, Swahili for 'the other side'.

I will be waiting for you infront of the House of Wonders in a mizingani road stone town Zanzibar. And I will be with my tour guide identity that has my name Khalfan Said Kombo. The tour will start at the meeting point ( House of Wonders) and finish at the same meeting point.
After meeting at the house of wonders we just cross the road to go to Forodani garden, This is a point where the tour will officially start. Here we get the introduction of our tour concerning stone town and Zanzibar in general. We will spend like 15-20 explaining about the history of Zanzibar and the place it self. This is one of the place contains huge history since the sultanate of Oman. In this place, we will get the opportunity of seeing the sultan band stage (podium) and the British cannons.
We will spend like 10 minutes( depends on your interests) explaining indeed about the sultan palace (house of wonders). This is a mother building in a sultanate history where the sultan Baraghash constructed in 1880. Unfortunately we will not get inside since the building is under construction.
The only Portuguese influence remained in stone town (Old Fort). The building originally was built by Portugal. Over here we will get the opportunity for free to visit inside and explain indeed the history of this fort since Portugal, Oman and then local people. We will spend like 10 minutes (depends on your interests )exploring inside the fort. We will see the Arabic towers and Coridor and also the amphitheater built by local government.
This is the museum of the Freddie Mercury (Farouk Bułsara) the Zanzibari Singer born in 1946 in stone town from the Indian family. Famous guy in the world of Rock music. We will get the opportunity of seeing his museum and explain about his history and legacy in Zanzibar. We will spend like 7 minutes (depends on your interests) outside the museum explaining about him. The entrance of here is USD 8 if you will need to enter.
This is the second church of the stone town. The church was built in 1890 by the French missionaries. We will spend 7 minutes (depends on your interests) to explain about the church and witness the beautiful architectures available on the church. We will not visit inside hence it is always closed though it still provides services.
Jaws Corner (Soko m’hogo). This is the center of the stone town. The both social and political gathering where everyone comes for having a good time to each other. We will spend like 5-7 minutes (depends on your interests) explaining indeed about this area. Here we will see the gathering of different people make the story to each other. Playing domino, watching public television ( depends on the times and events) having a local coffee.
The only Public bath in a stone town and Zanzibar. The building was built by the Second sultan of Zanzibar Sultan Baraghash bin said. And it served as a public Hamam. We will spend like 5 minutes (depends on your interest) explaining about this building in out side. The entrance here is USD 5 if you are interested of getting inside.
Here is where the slave traced in Zanzibar was conducted and abolished. Here the entrance fees is USD 5 per person if you are interested of visiting inside. In this area while we are inside we will spend totally like 30 - 35 minutes (depends on your interest) discovering a lot of this area. Inside of this place will see the Anglican Church, Slave monument, Chambers and exhibition of the slaves.
The biggest and famous road in stone town. Where this road divided two cities ( new city and old city ) in this place we will see the end point of the stone town and the start point of the new city of Zanzibar.We will spend 3-5 minutes (depends on your interests)
The biggest market in Zanzibar. The market originally was in old fort then Oman shifted to the end point of the stone town. In this market we will spend like 30 minutes (depends on your interests) exploring indeed by visiting the spice market, fish market, vegetable market, beef market and many more market sections available.
The tallest building in a stone town to see the view. We will spend 5 minutes here (depends on your interests) at the roof top.
The only Hindu temple remained in a stone town and it still provide the services for the Indian believers. We will spend like 5 minutes (depends on your interests). Some time it’s open and some times it is closed. So if it’s open we will visit inside for free to see how is looks like inside.
The sultan palace in stone town. It’s the first building to be built by Oman (Arab) in a stone town. Due to the building is under renovation we can’t go inside hence we will have the 5-7 minutes ( depends on your interests) to explain about the building indeed.
