Hey! My name is Hans. I'm a legal advocate working in Arusha that loves to meet new visitors and take them for tours of my city. I studied law in Dar es Salaam and was born in Morogoro region. Welcome!
Karibu! Welcome to my free walking tour of central Arusha.
Arusha is a very walkable city and pretty calm by Tanzanian standards, making it a great place to tour on foot.
This walking tour should take around 3-4 hours, depending on the pace of our walking. We will cover about 3 kilometers of distance, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
Meeting Point: Clock Tower:
Discover Tanzania's geology, flora, and fauna, including its world-famous wildlife.
Learn about Julius Nyerere and his importance in Tanzania's history, as well as the significance of the Uhuru Monument.
Shop for fresh produce, spices, and other local goods. I grew up on my parent's farm, so I can teach you a bit about agriculture in Tanzania and what we grow locally.
View local crafts and meet the local vendors. I will show you how to negotiate in Swahili!
After, I can help you catch a taxi to your hotel. Or, if you wish I would be happy to take extend the tour and take you to one of the following destinations:
I would love to be your guide around Arusha!
* These destinations are optional and have a nominal entry fee. This fee can vary but is approximately $6 usd per adult.
I will be standing next to the clock tower. I usually wear the shirt shown in my profile photo.
Galanos, a wealthy Greek individual who arrived in Tanganyika during the early 1900s, was the architect behind the construction of the clock tower. Situated precisely between Cairo and Cape Town, the Arusha Clock Tower is commonly regarded as the central hub connecting the nations of Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
