Tour description

Welcome to our circular Free Tour of Santiago de Compostela! We will begin our visit in the emblematic Praza do Obradoiro, the heart of the city and home of the majestic Cathedral of Santiago. Here, we will give a brief introduction about the history and importance of this iconic place.

From Praza do Obradoiro, we will head to Praza das Praterías , famous for its baroque fountain and the impressive south façade of the Cathedral, adorned with sculptures representing biblical scenes and the lives of the apostles.

We will continue our tour along the historic Rúa Xelmírez , a cobblestone street that will transport us to medieval times, surrounded by traditional architecture and places that preserve the old charm of the city.

Our next stop will be the Praza da Universidade , a place full of history where the Fonseca College is located, one of the most representative buildings of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

Then, we will visit the Praza de Abastos , the most important market in the city. Here, we will be able to see and smell fresh and local products, and understand a little more about Galician gastronomy and the daily life of Compostela residents.

The next stop will be the Praza de Cervantes , a place with a lively atmosphere and a central fountain that pays tribute to the famous writer Miguel de Cervantes. It is a popular meeting point for city residents.

We will enter Rúa da Azabachería , known for its craft shops that work with azabache, a black gem that has been part of local tradition and culture for centuries.

Later, we will arrive at the Quintana de Vivos y Mortos , a square divided into two levels with suggestive names. In the upper part, the Quintana de Vivos, events and social activities are held, while in the lower part, the Quintana de Mortos, there is access to the crypt of the Cathedral.

Our penultimate stop will be the Praza da Inmaculada , where the Monastery of San Martín Pinario is located, an impressive baroque building that stands out for its architecture and its history as one of the most important monasteries in Galicia.

Finally, we will return to Praza do Obradoiro to conclude our tour. Here, we will be able to reflect on everything we have learned and admire once again the magnificent Cathedral of Santiago.

Thank you for joining us on this circular tour of Santiago de Compostela! We hope you have enjoyed the tour and take with you a little piece of the history and magic of this unique city.
