Please be advised that we do not accommodate organized groups on our tip-based walking tours. For organized groups exceeding 6 participants, it is required to book a private paid walking tour in advance. Such groups are not permitted to join our tip-based walking tours.
Starting from Kongens Nytorv Metro Station, our walking tour embarks on a journey through the heart of Copenhagen, showcasing its vibrant history and culture.
Our first destination is Nyhavn, the iconic 17th-century waterfront, bustling with colorful facades and historical wooden ships, a perfect spot for photographs and to soak in the maritime atmosphere.
We then proceed to Amalienborg Palace, the winter residence of the Danish royal family, where we may witness the changing of the guard ceremony, a tradition that dates back centuries.
Our path leads us next to the Marble Church, known for its impressive dome, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city.
As we continue, we'll stroll through the historic streets, arriving at the Rosenborg Castle, a renaissance marvel housing the crown jewels.
Concluding our tour, we'll explore the King's Garden, a serene oasis in the city. Throughout our journey, I will share stories and insights, bringing to life the rich tapestry of Copenhagen's history and contemporary culture.
Keep an eye out for our guide, easily identifiable with the sign: "FREE WALKING TOUR COPENHAGEN - NORDIC FREEDOM TOURS"
Our guide, holding a ‘NORDIC FREEDOM TOURS’ sign, will meet you at the square outside the Kongens Nytorv metro station exit.
Nytorv is a public square in Copenhagen, established in 1606 as a marketplace. Renowned for its historical significance, it hosts the Court House, built between 1805 and 1815 on the site of the city's former City Hall. Nytorv is a focal point of Copenhagen's pedestrian zone, making it a popular gathering place that blends the city's rich history with vibrant contemporary life.
Kongens Nytorv, established in 1670, is a central square in Copenhagen, notable for its historical significance and architectural landmarks. It was designed by King Christian V, symbolizing regal power and urban development. The square is surrounded by prominent buildings such as the Royal Danish Theater and Charlottenborg Palace, and it serves as a hub for cultural events, showcasing the city's blend of tradition and modernity.
Copenhagen City Hall, located in the heart of Copenhagen, was constructed from 1892 to 1905. Designed by architect Martin Nyrop in the National Romantic style, it draws inspiration from the city hall in Siena, Italy. This iconic building is renowned for its ornate clock tower, one of the tallest buildings in Copenhagen, and for housing the world's largest astronomical clock, completed in 1955.
Strøget, located in Copenhagen, is one of Europe's longest pedestrian streets, established in the 1960s to enhance urban life. Spanning approximately 1.1 kilometers, it connects City Hall Square with Kongens Nytorv. Renowned for its blend of high-end boutiques, historic architecture, and vibrant street performers, Strøget is a pivotal cultural and shopping hub, attracting tourists and locals alike.
